Frequently Asked Questions

About Ski School Neustift

Does my child need skis?

Yes, for all our courses—including Bommel’s Ski School—your child needs a complete set of ski equipment, including skis.

Do I need a lift ticket?

Yes, a valid lift ticket is required to access our meeting points. Please ensure you have one before the course begins.

Why can my child under 4 years old not take part in the ski course?

Please understand that our ski courses take place in all weather conditions and are held at an altitude of around 2,600 m. At this altitude, the air is significantly thinner, which can be particularly strenuous for very young children. To ensure safety, well-being and a positive experience for all children, we therefore only offer our courses from the age of 4.

Where is my meeting point?

All of our meeting points are located in the area of the Gamsgarten mountain station. The meeting point for private lessons is located directly at our office at the mountain station. The meeting points for group courses are marked with colored flags and are clearly visible on-site. For more detailed information, please contact our offices – we will be happy to assist you.

Can we book a ski instructor together as a family?

We recommend that children and adults receive separate instruction. Children and adults learn at different paces and often require different exercises. Additionally, the
instructor would always have to adjust to the weakest participant, which could limit the learning experience for everyone. Separate lessons ensure that each person can get the most out of their instruction.

When does the ski race take place?

The ski race usually takes place on Thursday, the last day of the week’s course. During holiday periods, the ski race may be held on both Wednesday and Thursday.

In which ski resorts can I book my course?

All our group courses take place on the Stubai Glacier. In exceptional cases and upon prior request, it is possible to book a 4-hour private lesson in another ski resort in the valley as well.

My child is almost 4 years old – can they participate in the ski course?

Generally, we accept children from 4 years of age into our ski courses. If your child is almost 4, they may – upon prior arrangement – initially participate in the course for two hours to see how they manage. The final decision, however, rests with the respective area manager.

What is better – private or group lessons?

In private lessons, the instructor can fully concentrate on one person, whereas in group lessons, they divide their attention among several children. On the other hand, group lessons offer the advantage of fun and motivation through the shared dynamic with other participants. Both options therefore have their own advantages – depending on what is important to you and your child.

What happens if the glacier is closed?

If the glacier should be closed, the following options are available:

Private lessons: Depending on skill level, an alternative ski area in the valley can be used. Our office will contact you directly in such cases.

Group courses: These cannot be relocated to other ski areas. However, we will make every effort to reschedule missed course days whenever possible.

When should I leave Neustift to arrive on time for the course?

We recommend allowing approximately one hour for the journey from Neustift to our office at the Gamsgarten mountain station. This ensures you have enough time to manage any potential wait times at the gondolas without stress.

What can you ski on your own after the lesson?

We recommend taking a step back after the lesson: instead of skiing the run you have only just mastered with your instructor, choose a slightly easier route that you can already manage well. This helps consolidate what you have learned and build confidence.
